Boxing like Maggie Fitzgerald from the movie Million Dollar Baby - that's what Ingeborg would like to do too. Fitness boxing in 24h GYMONE Fitness studio in Zürich-Altstetten gives you this chance.
At the reception of the gym I am already greeted very friendly by the employee. Since the gym Gymone is open 24 hours, there is really no excuse not to work out. When I tell the receptionist that I am visiting Gymone for the first time today, I immediately get an extensive tour of the gym. This is equipped with the latest fitness equipment and kept in the "urbanstyle" in black and yellow. There is even a corner for yoga lovers like me. Today, however, I'm going to be fitness boxing! I report to the boxing corner, where Muhammed Ali looks motivationally from the wall. The group is very mixed. There are even more women than men present. Cool to see that it's no longer a male-only domain. I'm allowed to do everything at my pace, the trainer says at the beginning of the workout. But my inner voice tells me that it probably won't stay that way for long. "A round of rope jumping to warm up" calls Sihlas, our fitness boxing trainer. Unfortunately, I gave up jumping rope sometime after I was a kid. As I slowly regain my jumping rhythm, I try to suppress various fits of laughter. As I jump back and forth like a frog, I try not to hurt everyone else in the group. This used to look more elegant. The trainer corrects my technique so that it already looks easier. We will improve this technique a little bit with time, I think. But back to the training, which requires my full attention.

At the end, it's back to quick and short strokes in the air...for minutes. The muscles burn. Keep going, keep going, keep going. - "Switch!" - Down to the floor. Feet up, crunches, push ups. This is where I realize that boxing is a demanding and intense full-body workout.
And then it's over, my first fitness boxing class. After a short break, I feel fit and full of energy, exhausted and proud. I feel that I haven't thought about anything outside of this room for the last 60 minutes. I was completely with myself. Boxing has cleared my head. And: it's fun! I like the dynamics here, and will gladly come again!
